Company Secretary / Assistant Company Secretary Job in Bristol


Your new company
This growing international business have experienced strong growth over the last few years. Their environment is lively, down to earth and fast paced with a passion for client service. They are now seeking a Company Secretary to join their legal team in Bristol. Reporting into the Group Legal Counsel, this is an excellent opportunity for a company secretary or assistant company secretary who is looking for an autonomous position with plenty of stakeholder contact.

Your new role
As Company Secretary, you will be responsible for ensuring that the business complies with statutory requirements and maintains high standards of corporate governance. You will act as a point of communication between the board of directors and company shareholders.

As a company secretary, you'll be responsible for:

  • Drafting agendas, preparing board packs, taking minutes at meetings and following up on actions
  • Maintaining corporate governance policies, making sure they are kept up to date and referred to the appropriate committee for approval
  • Statutory compliance, ensuring all filings are made with Companies House
  • Dealing with correspondence, collating information and writing reports; ensuring decisions made are communicated to the relevant company stakeholders
  • Liaising with external advisers, such as lawyers and auditors


What you'll need to succeed
You will have company secretary experience, either as a qualified co sec or someone who is studying towards your ICSA qualifications. You will have a diplomatic approach and the confidence to provide support to high-profile company staff and board members and a commercial frame of mind. You will have experience of drafting relevant Company House forms and documents and drafting relevant Board Minutes and Resolutions as required, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels, attention to detail and a well-organised approach to work and the ability to prioritise work and to work well under pressure.
