Our client is an international law firm who has seen rapid growth and they are currently seeking an employment/immigration paralegal to join their London office - salary £20,000 - £28,000.
This is a new role and an excellent opportunity to learn within the role and take on more responsibility. Working as part of a small team, the successful candidate will support the Employment team, with a particular emphasis on Immigration. The main duties of the role will be to assist Solicitors and the Senior Immigration Paralegal with immigration matters, which include Tier 2 Sponsor Licences, compliance audits, PBS cases, Family Visa, Visitor Visas, Business Visitors Visa, Indefinite Leave to Remain and British nationality matters as well as employment law related matters. The work will cover a range of matters and will include:
- Assisting with precedents and research, for example research to support applications (including; home office policy, country operational guidance, and other general news articles)
- Completing immigration application forms, both online and paper, e.g. entry clearance and extension leave to remain applications
- Booking same day visa appointments and assisting with the preparation of applications for submission
- Liaising with clients in a timely, professional and courteous manner
- Attending meetings to take instructions and minutes, following up on action points when required
- Typing and amending attendance notes, letters, faxes, presentations and other documents as required, completion of standard letters, emails, and faxes
- Researching, analysing drafting documents, conducting due diligence and managing data rooms
- Filtering client calls and assisting with settlement agreements
- Proof reading, and checking forms and documents for accuracy
- Telephone calls to organisations, monitoring and checking progress of applications, and reporting back to client
- Assisting with Business Development activities, preparing briefing notes and client presentations
- Assisting with electronic and hard copy disclosure exercises for clients including (a) reviewing documents for relevance, privilege and commercial sensitivity, (b) preparing electronic and hard copy documents for disclosure, and (c) compiling bundles
- Preparing instructions to counsel and related bundles
- Preparing hearing bundles
- Client care
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate a real interest in employment and immigration law. In addition, you will have: strong attention to detail and take pride in your work, excellent communication skills and work well as part of a professional, fast-paced team. Preferably you will have gained experience as a paralegal within an Employment department with exposure to Corporate Immigration work, but this is not a pre-requisite.
