Financial Services Regulatory Solicitor, 2 pqe +  Central London

Ref: 12657

Salary: £100k+

World class financial services regulatory practice seeks to hire a junior to mid/mid-level associate into its thriving department.

Exposure to work of the utmost quality is fundamentally important at this stage of your career, and this firm’s market-leading reputation guarantees you involvement in sophisticated matters for household name corporations at the forefront of their sector.  The firm’s proven ability to deliver on the most challenging mandates means they are one of the few firms you turn to for headline-making and business-critical issues.

Having two of the finest international corporate and finance practices in London at the heart of the firm, the firm as a whole has been able to leverage these strong bonds on the mainstream transactional side to develop sizable top tier specialist teams servicing niche sectors and complementing the work undertaken by those core departments.

As well as establishing an enviable track record and strong client relationships, to bring in the right quality of work, the firm has also carefully developed its working practices and office culture to ensure that they can attract the highest quality of associates, who can enjoy a rewarding and lasting career at the firm.

They lay great emphasis on continuous development, and hence structure their teams so that associates can gain varied exposure by working with a range of partners acting for a variety of clients.  Working alongside talented and driven partners and senior associates, with the benefit of excellent resources and structured training programmes, you will be able to rise to the challenges you face as part of a leading team.

The culture is very positive, inclusive and sociable.  The partnership has a longstanding commitment to fostering a diverse work force, and they encourage as much flexibility as possible.  Associates joining the firm will enjoy a collaborative working environment, and the opportunity to become involved in many aspects of firm life through various groups and the lively social side.

Aside from those US firms where the working hours and pressures would be more excessive, the firm pays top of the market salaries in London, ahead of peer firms, along with comprehensive benefits.

The financial services regulatory practice’s diverse and high quality client base includes governmental organisations, investment banking clients, securities exchanges, trading and settlement systems, and various other participants in the financial services market.

Rather than attracting the more routine work, they are called upon to advise on the most sensitive matters affecting major players in the industry, and novel regulation issues that require more innovative solutions.  The mandates undertaken by the financial services regulatory team are ground-breaking and effectively contribute to shaping the future of the sector.

This would be a great home for an ambitious associate who has a particularly keen interest in non-contentious matters, in particular, and also for a lawyer who wishes to be involved in both contentious and non-contentious work, as the team provides seamless services in both and enables associates to specialise in litigious and non-litigious matters (although team members tend to choose to specialise at a later date in their career).

Work would largely comprise of standalone financial regulation matters, and work generated by the group itself, as opposed to support work for other departments.
