Head of Legal and Business Affairs

From September 2018 onwards S4C's headquarters will be relocating to Canolfan S4C:Yr Egin in Carmarthen.  

This will be the start of a new and exciting chapter in the history of S4C based in west Wales and housed in a new media centre located in a purpose built building. 

As a result of this relocation of a number of key positions have become available with the opportunity to join the teams who administer and promote the channel.

We’re recruiting for the position of Head of Legal and Business Affairs.

In addition to managing the work of the legal and business affairs team, the Head of Legal and Business Affairs is a member of the S4C Operational Team, contributing to the day to day running of S4C and a member of various project teams at S4C.

You’ll be working with all the S4C departments in order to meet the variety of legal and contractual requirements of the organisation.

You’ll be expected to to manage the work of the legal and business affairs teams in order to provide a high quality service in a timely manner, as well as undertaking your own legal work at an appropriate level.

The team undertakes  a wide range of work including: the drafting and negotiation of  a variety of agreements, including agreements for commissioning and financing programmes, software commissioning, technology agreements,  office services agreements; drawing up and advising on policies in a wide range of areas e.g. procurement, diversity, data protection, working with children and vulnerable adults; discussing and agreeing standard form agreements with external bodies, talent unions and collecting societies; managing the work of external solicitors; representing S4C in meetings with other broadcasters.  

You will require management skills and the ability to work on a number of different and wide ranging matters at the same time, the ability to measure risk and present clear and concise information, good interpersonal and communication skills are a must and you will need to be able to understand Welsh both spoken and written.

Salary: Competitive. To be discussed, dependent on experience

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time (but requests to work part time will be considered)

Location: Cardiff until September 2018, and then the Canolfan S4C Yr Egin in Carmarthen.
