Highly regarded international litigation boutique with English and US law capability continues to go from strength to strength with their alternative model law firm structure. Their legal talent is drawn from large international law firms, tier 1 commercial sets of chambers and leading local firms in some of the main European and Asian jurisdictions. Associates work closely together in teams from the beginning of every case which are typically high value and complex.
The need has arisen for an additional associate to join their commercial litigation/tax disputes team and both solicitors and barristers will be considered. Suitable candidates will have at least 4 years pqe with responsibility for co-ordinating and managing a team of paralegals and very junior associates and working closely with partners to prepare High Court cases for trial. You will have excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workflows and have the ability to grasp new unfamiliar concepts through lateral and divergent thinking. A first-class academic record is pre-requisite to include preferably a 1st class degree from a top University. You will have gained experience in the UK, Germany, Brussels or the main common law jurisdictions.
Experience should include High Court commercial litigation across a range of high value contractual disputes such as shareholder disputes, trust disputes, pensions litigation, insolvency and tax experience acting on behalf of corporations, trusts, and high net worth individuals in a wide range of domestic disputes, disputes and issues with HMRC, and challenging elements of UK tax legislation as contrary to EU principles. You will likely get exposure to cases that appear in all areas of the domestic courts and tribunal system up to the Supreme Court. You will also advise clients in respect of European Court of Justice and disputes often involve numerous foreign jurisdictions.
The firm is highly profitable and able to match salaries of the magic circle law firms but with the advantage of being able to offer high levels of autonomy and responsibility to associates in a progressive but not highly structured and monitored environment.
