Our values and culture underpin everything that we do.  We believe that our friendly, supportive and dynamic working environment is fundamental to our success and we value highly the role that each individual plays in contributing to this.

Meet Us
We think the best way for you to find out about training at Shoosmiths is to meet us face to face.  Attending one of our insight evenings will give you an opportunity to meet our trainees, get some application tips and ask us questions.

Our insight evenings are open to applicants in any year of University, in any discipline, graduates and postgraduate students who are interested in a career as a solicitor.
You don’t need to complete a vacation scheme at Shoosmiths to secure a training contract, but it is a great way to gain invaluable experience and find out if we are the right fit for you, you can even fast track to a place on the assessment day.

We run a one-week paid placement every June.  You will experience a real week in the life of a trainee solicitor which includes real responsibility, real case files and attending real client meetings.
Over two years, you will receive a quality training contract and development programme, combining technical legal and business skills training.  You will complete four six-month seats usually spilt across two office locations and one of those seats could be a secondment to a client’s in-house legal team, providing invaluable insight from the client’s perspective.
The tasks that you will undertake are engaging, interesting and often with familiar topics, brands and products with which you can easily identify.
We offer a supportive open-plan office environment which means that you will be sitting with your entire team.  You can expect to have direct contact with clients and you will draft your own letters and documents from day one.
If you secure a training contract with us, we will be happy to offer you financial assistance in relation to your future GDL and/or LPC (or Scottish Diploma of Professional Legal Practice).  We don’t specify a particular LPC provider and are keen for our trainees to bring a variety of experience to the firm.
