Our Client based in the City is seeking an experienced lawyer with technology expertise to be part of the Technology, Intellectual Property and Contracts team tasked with advising, structuring and negotiating index licensing and market data arrangements across regions, together with other technology and intellectual property-related transactions. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the firm, including in the technology division as well as with various business teams globally. This role will also interact closely with colleagues throughout the firm’s control functions in order to provide legal support in connection with the development of new products, services and capabilities and to provide subject matter expertise on a wide range of services and transactions.
- Arrangements in scope will include: (i) supplier agreements for the provision of a wide range of business, technology and data services and products with particular focus on multi-jurisdictional index licensing and market data agreements; (ii) the provision of technology and IP related services to its clients; and (iii) the development and commercialization of IP assets.
- Responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising in relation to a range of commercial and technology contracts, typically subject to English law.
- Responsibilities also include advising on contracting strategies and structures, legislative developments and our clients fin-tech product development.
- Act as strategic partner to relevant business units in planning of supplier engagements, and in managing existing suppliers.
- Engaging and managing foreign counsel in relation to contracts subject to foreign law.
Qualifications and Skills
- Candidates should have at least 5 to 10 years post-admission experience in a leading law firm or institution.
- Significant experience is required in negotiating and advising on multi-jurisdictional index licensing and market data arrangements and other technology services contracts.
- Good understanding of supplier engagement processes (RFP’s, contract structures), preferably on an international basis, is required.
- Experience in advising institutions in relation to electronic trading arrangements (e.g. trading platforms, settlement and reporting systems, etc.)
- In –house experience would be advantageous (including via relevant secondments).
