Intellectual Property Senior Lawyer - Dubai
Our client is one of the pioneering firms in the Gulf region with a rated IP practice that covers the full range of soft and hard IP including copyright, trademarks, patents and data protection. They have expertise in both contentious and non-contentious matters including regulatory affairs and enforcement in the relevant agencies and courts. The team comprises partners and associates both English and Arabic speaking.
They advise a blue-chip client base comprising major international corporations, financial institutions, large local companies, government entities and family offices.
The role would suit a senior associate or partner and involves handling a broad range of soft IP matters including copyright, trademarks and data protection. You will have immediate responsibility for a number of the departments stand-alone and also institutional firm clients, management responsibility for junior lawyers including associates and business development activities for the department and firm wide.
Candidates will either have experience on the round in the region or will be seeking to relocate there for the first time from jurisdictions such as the UK, Australia, NZ, Canada and the US. You will have worked in a leading IP practice in a recognised law firm although you could also currently be a senior in-house IP counsel for a company having worked in private practice earlier in your career.
There is no expectation for candidates to have a business case and it would be considered as a bonus. Skillset and pedigree are the key criteria sought. Those candidates who are bi-lingual Arabic speakers would be especially of interest although this is not a prerequisite.
Partnership prospects are realistic and achievable short term, and having placed partners into the firm recently I am in a positon to confidently advise on the viability of this depending on your current circumstances and expectations.
