About Us
With 25 offices in 15 countries and a number of referral relationships we offer the reach and insight of a global network, combined with the knowledge and understanding of local markets. Our 400 partners and further 1000 lawyers work across 10 different time zones, responding to our clients wherever and whenever they need us.
Our clients are at the heart of our thinking, our ambition is to be our clients' most incisive partner. You will see we have a prestigious client base, with whom we build strong partnerships working closely together on large and complex multi-jurisdictional transactions to deliver incisive and insightful commercial solutions. Our global reach provides opportunities for our people to work in numerous jurisdictions with leading international organisations across the world.
At Ashurst you will work as part of a team of high calibre individuals operating in a high performance environment. We are creative, innovative, agile and incisive thinkers always looking for new and better ways of doing things.
You will enjoy an inclusive culture which genuinely values the breadth of individual perspectives and contributions that we gain from having a diverse workforce. As part of a truly collaborative team working in partnership together with openness and respect across offices, geographies and specialisms, we support each other to achieve great things for our clients. We take exactly the same approach with our people: we’re interested in understanding each other, finding new and better ways to bring out each individual's talents, and simply enjoying the interaction with other high-calibre, down-to-earth people. It’s a strong, shared culture that will enable you to apply your intellect, develop yourself and thrive as an international lawyer.
Working this way we will achieve our goals to be the best advisor and an exceptional place to work.
Vacation Scheme
Every year, we hold four vacation schemes – a single one- week scheme in Spring for first year students; two three-week summer schemes and a single one-week scheme in the winter.
Our winter and summer vacation schemes are for all penultimate law students as well as, final year students and graduates, studying a law or non-law degree.
Our first year scheme runs in the Spring. Law students are eligible to apply.
Applications are open between 1 September 2017 and 5 November 2017 for the winter scheme and 1 September 2017 and 7 January 2018 for the summer scheme.
Training Contracts
A training contract at Ashurst will move your mind beyond technical knowledge of the law. Ultimately, we want to help you become a thought leader with a reputation for clear, perceptive and influential advice – a professional in whom governments and leading businesses the world over can place their trust.
This isn’t an easy route to take. You’ll need to become a shrewd negotiator, have an ability to read both balance sheets and behaviours, and become a commercial strategist with a deep understanding of specific industries.
Our training contract will start you on that road. We will plan closely with you four seats of six months each, that will broaden your world view and hone your talents. At least one seat will be in a finance practice and another within a transactional department. You will also have the opportunity to apply for an overseas or client secondment.
We will be accepting training contract applications to start in September 2020/March 2021 from 1 October 2017. There will be two windows to apply for training contracts with the firm. These will be from 1 October 2017 to 7 January 2018 and then again from 1 May 2018 to 31 July 2018.
Qualifications
340 UCAS points or equivalent and 2:1 in your degree.
