Well known for its energy practice with particular strength in oil & gas and renewables, our client is looking to significantly grow its energy practice through the strategic hiring of both oil & gas and renewables Partners and/or teams across all levels of seniority (including from in-house) for both their London and Aberdeen offices.
Our client is also very interested to speak with any senior entrepreneurial energy lawyers or teams that are interested in launching a new international office, preferably in a key oil & gas hub ie in Europe, Middle East or Asia.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get in at the ground level of a new phase of significant growth of both the oil & gas and renewable teams and to play a central role in their London head office or their soon-to-be newly re-located Aberdeen office.
Recognised as a leading law firm brand, our client has a nationwide network of offices as well as a growing international platform through strategic alliances. This is a firm that promotes an open working culture and has a clear plan to grow rapidly in the next few years.
The energy practice is seen as central to the firms’ international expansion plans and currently represents around 13% of the firm’s turnover with ambitions to increase this significantly. They are currently working on some very high profiled oil & gas transactions and work with an impressive list of energy companies.
The Energy team consists of full-time specialist lawyers but is supported by other practice group lawyers with a sectoral focus.
On the oil & gas side our client is interested to speak with lawyers with extensive transactional/projects upstream and service sector experience as well as energy disputes lawyers with litigation & arbitration experience. UK and international experience would be ideal, especially experience in Africa, Middle East, Asia and the Nordics with ambitions to work across other jurisdictions
On the power & renewables side, our client is very interested to speak with senior lawyers with power generation and renewables experience especially onshore and offshore wind.
Our client is interested in speaking to self-starters that are known in the energy industry who have a strong local and international network, individuals that are keen business developers who want to be part of an entrepreneurial and collegiate team.
Whilst demonstrating a portable book of business is ideal, it is not necessarily a prerequisite. Ultimately any hire will come down to the strength of a business plan and cultural fit with what our client is currently doing/aspiring to do.
Experienced Partners, Senior Associates looking to step up into a Partner positon as well as connected in-house lawyers that can demonstrate a business case to develop a practice are all encouraged to get in touch.
Our client operates an all equity model with senior and junior equity levels. They operate a modified lockstep structure with bonus pool tranches which can be awarded to high performing partners. The allocation of supra points is reviewed annually alongside the annual remuneration review.
