We're proud to have one of the largest full service construction and engineering teams in the sector.
Our commercially astute lawyers are always aware of the wider challenges and have an enviable track record for delivering practical solutions to complex issues. The team have strong cross working relationships with other teams in the firm, including environmental law, corporate, banking, real estate, procurement, planning and tax. These relationships are key to the seamless service we provide to our clients from planning to completion of their project and beyond.
It’s the quality and commerciality of our service, our industry insight and the talent and passion of our people that engages our clients, and they love what we do. It also means that our people are excited about the opportunities for growth and development in our business – it's a great place to be.
The team now has an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal or Legal Executive to join them, working in our Bristol office.
What will you be doing?
You'll play a vital role within our 'one team' vision providing a 'full service' to our clients. You'll be supporting the wider Construction Team working with a broad range of quality clients, including major retailers, insurers, banks, government and public bodies, local authorities, universities, developers, major contractors and specialist sub-contractors. You'll be working with partners and other lawyers in the team on a range of contentious construction matters. You will become involved in a range of proceedings, including adjudication and litigation. Your work will involve liaising directly with clients, counsel and technical advisers and ultimately, after training, playing a significant part in running your own matters. There will also be opportunities for the right candidate to gain valuable experience of both dispute resolution and transactional construction work.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in construction and engineering and who is keen to build their career as a lawyer specialising in this area. We believe that our lawyers benefit from exposure to good quality work right from the outset of their careers. It's important that we offer our clients the best possible experience and we believe that comes from allowing them to build strong and meaningful relationships with the members of their legal team right from the start.
You may have already completed the LPC or be working towards a CILEx qualification, or you may have relevant industry experience gained during a previous career within the construction and engineering sector. Whatever your present situation, if you're looking to build your career in this specialism, we absolutely want to hear from you.
Your current level of qualification is less important than the great skills and energy you're going to bring with you. Just as important are excellent communication skills, a sense of commercial pragmatism and the ability to build lasting relationships with our clients.
On occasion, you may need to work other lawyers based in our London, Southampton or Plymouth. Offices. You will need to be prepared to travel to these (or other) locations as your workload may require.
So what makes it so great to work here?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit and supportive team where you can learn from true leaders in their field and build your experience with access to great quality work and great clients. Supported by a collegiate approach and firm wide commitment to lawyer development there are fewer better places to continue, or perhaps even start, your legal career.
Our location in Bristol is fantastic, just a five minute walk from Temple Meads station and short stroll to vibrant shops and restaurants. The firm's wider offering in Bristol continues to expand and our offices will also undergo an impressive refurbishment starting in 2019.
And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.
