My international client seeks a professional indemnity solicitor to join their professional & financial disputes department in their top ranked international law firm. The role itself is to assist the Claims Manager who manages four Claims Handlers, and this role is to be the Manager's right-hand person.
As a member of the team you will be handling and settling claims from instruction through to settlement which will include:-
*Direct responsibility for a caseload of 160 files within an authority level (including claimants' costs and defendants' disbursements)
*Handling professional indemnity claims from first notification to settlement
*Prioritising workload and managing it chronologically to achieve targets set
*Making reasoned, commercial decisions as to when to settle a claim economically
*Acting as a referral point for more junior members of staff
*Processing the workload chronologically and helping out other claims handlers where necessary to ensure team targets are met
*Using own initiative as well as working in a team
*Regular reporting to the team leader and attending and participating in team meetings
*Working to key performance indicators (KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs) as communicated by the Claims Manager/Director
*Dealing with enquiries on the helpline (organised on a rota basis)
You will either be a qualified solicitor:-
*Either a qualified solicitor (NQ - 3 years) or minimum of three years' claims handling experience (preferably professional indemnity work)
*Familiarity with the Professional Indemnity Pre-Action Protocol
*Familiarity with the Law Society's minimum Terms and Conditions
*Familiarity with claims reserving
*Working knowledge of costs and recoveries
*Experience of working to KPIs and SLAs
*IT literate including knowledge of Windows and Excel, preferably with prior experience of using case management systems
You will also be/have:-

*Excellent time management and organisation skills
*Self-motivated and delivery-focused
*Action orientated
*Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness
*The ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
