Description
Assist with managing the EMEA litigation and contentious regulatory portfolio to a successful conclusion (including identifying ownership of the problem and key issues in dispute, managing external counsel and costs, keeping relevant stakeholders and business/GC management informed of significant developments, escalating decision-making appropriately to line manager in a timely manner and considering strategies for successful resolution of cases).
- Assist in providing strategic and substantive legal advice to the business as to the strategy and merits of matters. This advice may encompass settlement and mediation options and consideration of media and franchise risk;
- Manage the instruction of external counsel in certain matters, act as an interface for both the business and external counsel; critically assess the advice and work product received and provide feedback to external counsel;
- Assist with the reporting of litigation updates to senior management, including Board and Audit Committee reports.
Qualifications & Skills
- Significant experience from a major international law firm or investment bank;
- Able to define and structure new problem-solving approaches, evaluate a range analyses, draw conclusions, and make and defend legal positions for the bank;
- Five years plus relevant Legal experience in the financial services industry;
- Experienced in advising on UK and European Financial Services Regulations.
