This global law firm is looking for a Senior Associate to join their Energy, Transport and Infrastructure department in their London office.
The role will be transactional, commercial and regulatory in nature, and it will also involve practice development. You will be working on a variety of domestic and international matters, alongside some of the best known practitioners in the energy sector. The role will include opportunities to work with our corporate group, on energy M&A work, our Project Finance practice, on power projects, and our Financial Markets and Regulation group, on energy trading. It is important that the successful candidate is able to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to work independently within a collegiate environment and to act as a supportive mentor to others.

It is essential that you have the following:
- Regulatory experience -recognising your current specialisation, a thorough grounding in the UK oil and gas and/or power, renewables or nuclear sectors, including expertise on industry licensing and codes
- Transactional experience in two or more of the following areas -IPPs, energy supply arrangements; wholesale energy trading; gas storage projects and oil and gas projects (upstream or downstream)
- Commercial contracts experience -strong negotiation and legal drafting skills are essential, as well as excellent attention to detail
- Effective delegation skills with strong team collaboration, respect and an enthusiasm for mentoring
- Business development -experience of strengthening existing client relationships and proactively developing new ones
- Management -it is important that you have good client management skills, as well as the ability to work autonomously and to manage a team internally
- A willingness to travel
- Strong legal research ability and rigour in quality control of juniors
The following is desirable:
- Experience of working with international clients in the energy sector with a particular emerging market focus
- Experience of preparing and participating in pitches to clients

- Projects or corporate or finance or regulatory experience in the energy sector

- Excellent team and client management skills
- Entrepreneurial vision and a desire to get involved
- Fluency in a second language preferred
