Our people regularly deal with large-scale matters involving multiple jurisdictions for multi-nationals through our award winning and groundbreaking approach to project management. We are lawyers who think strategically as well as legally, and provide our dispute managers with the resources they need to use their skills to the fullest.
Eversheds has over 130 dedicated lawyers worldwide providing dispute management, ADR and contentious regulatory advice. Our people act for major clients including domestic and international banks, insurers, hedge funds, private banks, fund managers, brokers and proprietary traders. We rigorously project manage disputes through our award winning RAPID resolution approach, helping us to provide a seamless cross border service and cost certainty.
We have an opportunity for a Associate to join the FSDI team in Cardiff.
This is a fee earning role and the individual will be expected to manage a mixed case load of financial service disputes and work collaboratively with others on larger cross-office projects.
Key responsibilities:
As an integral part of our FSDI team you will be required to run a case load of contested mortgage repossession matters and be able to pursue them to trial, where applicable, with limited supervision.
You will need to be able to contribute to the wider team’s knowledge base and be able to supervise other more junior lawyers with their caseload of mortgage repossession cases.
You will need to be able to work flexibly (sometimes after hours) to deal with late / last minute applications to suspend warrants / set aside possession orders.
You will also need to be able to demonstrate initiative and innovation and be able to contribute towards client service initiatives, newsletters and legal bulletins.
Skills and experience:
You will need to be experienced in handling mortgage related litigation. You will need to have a detailed knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and be up to date with the changes affected by the Jackson reforms. You will have experience of pursuing ( ideally contested mortgage repossession) cases to trial and be able to provide sound, technical and commercial advice. Ideally you will also have some conveyancing experience or be able to demonstrate a through understanding of the key mortgage related legal concepts. You will possess strong technical skills and excellent academic qualifications. In addition you will be able to demonstrate exceptional organisation skills as well as your high attention to detail. You will provide a first rate client service both internally and externally.
Key competencies:
You should be a team player, client focused and a good communicator with a strong practical approach to your workload.
A commitment of delivering quality service is essential, as is the ability to juggle the demands of a heavy workload and manage numerous tight time critical deadlines.
You must be able to demonstrate that you are able to achieve and exceed performance related key performance indicators.
