This high profile international organisation now requires an experienced commercial lawyer to join its legal team in a strategic and transactional capacity. In addition to providing legal and commercial advice to all business areas, the successful candidate will provide legal advice and support to senior management on a wide range of company and commercial legal issues which will relate to multiple countries and jurisdictions. You will be part of a team of lawyers and paralegals, and work closely with all members of the company.
You will be expected to implement effective organisation and prioritisation of the organisations activities to ensure the needs of the business are met.
In addition to overall responsibility for the effective management of contracts across the full range of business to business activities, you will be expected to implement commercial, legal and contractual strategies for the business, highlighting risk issues where relevant and developing ways to mitigate risk through innovative solutions.
This will involve providing the business with regular updates on regulatory changes to law, including providing training programmes as and when required, and ensuring that all legal documentation complies with current legislation, regulations and best practice.
This is a senior position with extensive commercial and strategic responsibilities and as such it is expected that the successful candidate will have significant and demonstrable commercial and legal experience. High-calibre academics and private practice training are required, along with good quality in-house experience and at least 5 years' PQE*. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a flexible approach and the ability to drive change and build energy into an existing legal function.
An ability to interact at all levels is essential, both within the business and with external stakeholders. As a true business advisor, you should be able to analyse complex legal issues, develop innovative strategies and propose effective commercial solutions to clients and colleagues.
You should have excellent knowledge of contract, intellectual property, and IT /telecoms law and a working knowledge of relevant regulations, as well as strong negotiation and contract drafting skills. You will have the confidence to deal with difficult situations and be able to remain robust under pressure; prioritising tasks and working to tight deadlines whilst always maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
