Our client, a leading Financial Services institution, now seeks a highly experienced senior regulatory lawyer to undertake a significant leadership role.
With extensive Financial Services experience, strong leadership and management skills and the ability to be a trusted senior legal advisor, you will play a key role within the business at a global level, providing commercial and technical legal advice on a wide range of legal issues. You will also have extensive strategic influence, with involvement in project management, contentious / non contentious and regulatory issues.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working closely with the senior leadership team on major projects at Group and cross-functional level
* Providing active leadership to and management of a small legal team
* Working with other legal units and business teams to address legal service requirements, including the implementation of new legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Liaising directly with the business and Compliance teams to identify and manage legal risk
* Proactively advising and educating the business on relevant legal issues
The successful candidate will focus on current regulatory requirements, including Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II, MiFIR and MAD, as well as supporting the business in managing relationships with the relevant regulatory bodies. The Regulatory Counsel will be required to provide legal advice on new contract launches and to act as the first point of contact for regulatory queries from the business.
About You
* Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with in-depth expertise of the financial services market, litigation and regulatory law relevant to the UK and other jurisdictions
* Extensive experience of operating at a senior, strategic level within a leading institution
* Demonstrable leadership and management skills
* Strong commercial focus with a solution-driven approach
* Outstanding technical legal skills, including the ability to draft and negotiate legal documentation to the highest standard
* Solid business partnership skills, with the ability to lead the business and set a clear direction in relation to legal risk management
* Ability to manage competing priorities, project manage and co-ordinate large projects
* Capable of managing and working as part of a team
