Lawyer/ PSL - Construction
12 month contract
Main Purpose of the Role:
To contribute to the development of core content (i.e legal practical guidance) and develop and maintain the current awareness component of the Lexis®PSL Construction practice area - thereby contributing to the revenue and profit growth of LexisNexis
The role is focused on current awareness and the further development of construction disputes content. The successful candidate will have experience in contentious construction (or a mix of contentious and non-contentious experience).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver core content (i.e legal practical guidance) for construction legal practitioners based on customer need
- Develop new content and maintain existing content to a high standard technically and editorially, particularly in relation to current awareness and construction disputes
- Assist with customer queries
- Contribute ideas for new content and tools
- Monitor information sources and identify relevant news regarding legal developments in the practice area and in the construction industry
- Contribute towards the development of new current awareness initiatives for the practice area
- Identify and write news analysis regarding cases and other news for prompt publication
- Liaise with the central current awareness team
- Adhere to and contribute towards a defined practice area approach across LexisNexis and across all formats
- Ensure that all personal milestones for product delivery are met. Adhere to appropriate systems for tracking progress
- Meet with customers as appropriate to receive feedback and to keep up to date with their needs
- Contribute towards delivery of a market facing product offering and the development of the Built Environment offering
- Support the sales and marketing function in taking LexisPSL to market by visiting and engaging with customers to raise the profile of Lexis®PSL construction and built environment offering and deliver sales
- Maintain and develop own knowledge base and expertise ensuring that ‘being the expert our customers would pay to spend time with’ comes to life
- Network and collaborate with the wider business to share and access existing content and to identify new business opportunities
- Collaborate with the LexisPSL team at large supporting best practice development i.e sharing of expertise and identification of potential business/product opportunities
Person Specification
- UK qualified lawyer
- Evidence that continuing professional development is pursued
- Comprehensive current knowledge of practice area
- Good understanding of the legal community and legal and construction markets
- Extensive post qualification experience in construction law with a well-regarded practice
- Excellent experience of construction law across a broad range of projects/disputes and acting for different parties
- Adjudication experience
- Construction litigation experience
- Familiarity with standard form construction contracts (in particular JCT and NEC)
- Client delivery experience
- Evidence of being able to deliver to tight and demanding timescales on multiple projects
- Extensive post qualification experience in construction law with a well-regarded practice
- Excellent experience of construction law across a broad range of projects/disputes and acting for different parties
- Adjudication experience
- Construction litigation experience
- Familiarity with standard form construction contracts (in particular JCT and NEC)
- Client delivery experience
- Evidence of being able to deliver to tight and demanding timescales on multiple projects
- Clear succinct writing style, ability to adapt to LN house style
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Strong spoken communication skills
- Strong analytical skills

Desirable:
- Experience of infrastructure projects
