World leading competition enforcement starts with you
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has completed its first year as a newly created organisation that promotes competition and makes markets work well for consumers, businesses and the economy. Over the last year we have delivered a number of successful outcomes as our work continues to benefit the lives of everyone in the UK. Joining us now, at the beginning of our next phase of transformation, will offer uniquely exciting professional opportunities.
We are looking for lawyers to join our Legal Service (at Assistant Legal Director level) and work with multi-disciplinary teams on enforcement, competition, merger and market cases and related litigation, as well as competition policy development. You will ensure that our cases are underpinned by robust legal input in order to deliver high quality, evidence based decisions and your expertise, influence and analysis of financial and economic issues will be vital in minimising the risk of legal challenge. You will support the professional development of colleagues to help create a world-class legal function that continually evolves and adapts to reflect best practice.
You will work at pace on complex projects and use your strategic expertise to anticipate future risks and create innovative, effective solutions. You will bring strong communication and analytical skills, a flexibility and willingness to work across the organisation and have expertise and post-qualification experience in UK/EU competition law or regulatory law casework, as well as good knowledge of applicable public law.
The profile and impact of our work in competition, merger and market cases represents a considerable career opportunity. Candidates applying from the EU who do not hold UK fully qualified lawyer status entitling them to practise must show a preparedness to sit and pass the QLTS on appointment (funding will be provided by the CMA).
In addition to a competitive salary the CMA also offers generous other benefits like an excellent Civil Service pension scheme, 31 and a half days annual leave, favourable consideration of flexible working options as well as generous maternity/paternity leave provision in excess of statutory requirements.
