Our client, a UK-based private equity and credit firm, is looking to hire a Legal Counsel to join the team. This senior role, as deputy to the General Counsel, will best suit a candidate with c.4-5PQE who has had broad exposure to corporate and finance transactions either from a PE/M&A or Finance background.
The successful candidate will provide support to both the Private Equity and Credit teams from the perspective of new transactions, as well as assisting the teams engaged with portfolio management for the respective funds. By way of background, the M&A transactions involve European public and private acquisitions and disposals, and JVs. Credit transactions involve the acquisition and disposal of non-performing portfolios, bilateral loans, securitisations and financing transactions. Amongst other responsibilities, the successful candidate will be responsible for lead legal support to the investment team on assigned transactions, liaising with internal teams and managing external advisers.
In addition to providing transactional support, the Legal Counsel will support the General Counsel in risk, regulatory & compliance matters within the firm. The candidate will be expected to get a base understanding of compliance administration matters before further recruitment of junior resource over a 12-month period.
