Role and Responsibilities
We are currently recruiting for a variety of our clients who are looking for experienced lawyers who are keen to expand and complement their existing skills and experience by working on a range of structured funding, liquidity, capital and arbitrage-driven transactions which use structured finance and/or derivatives technology. We also have demand internally at A&O for Peerpoint consultants to support a busy and thriving ICM department.
Peerpoint Overview
Peerpoint provides a panel of experienced, high-calibre lawyers available to work flexibly on top-quality legal placements with Allen & Overy teams and for clients directly.
Peerpoint is an inspired way of working for those lawyers who want to do challenging and varied work as, when and how they choose. It appeals to talented lawyers who are technically very competent, self-sufficient, highly motivated, possess commercial acumen and who have an entrepreneurial drive. Peerpoint offers a genuine career choice for those wanting to operate at the very top of the legal profession but not necessarily in full-time employment.
Peerpoint consultants have access to the best A&O online training, seminar programmes, current awareness, know-how and market updates and are covered by the firm’s professional indemnity insurance while working with Peerpoint for A&O or a client. We also arrange bespoke Peerpoint events which will help you to meet CPD requirements and enable you to build a network of like-minded lawyers.
We are keen to recruit consultants either to work directly for clients or support A&O legal teams working on transactions, projects or other assignments. We will discuss with you during the recruitment process which of these options is most suitable for you.
We are looking to recruit consultants either to work for a fixed term, which can be either full-time or part-time, or on a flexible consultancy basis.
All Peerpoint consultants are self-employed. They set up and work for their own Personal Services Company, with which Allen & Overy signs a consultancy agreement. To find out more about being a self-employed lawyer please click here for our guide or visit www.peerpoint.com.
A&O’s International Capital Markets – Derivatives, Structured Finance & Securitisation Group Overview
The International Capital Markets practice (ICM) has been instrumental in nearly all the major developments in the modern financial markets, starting with the first-ever Eurobond issue in the 1960s. ICM advises issuers – organisations that are issuing debt and which are promising to repay it or, in the case of securitisation, the organisations whose assets are backing the debt. It also acts for parties arranging or underwriting debt, for those that are arranging the distribution of the product or providing services to transactions, such as trustees, and for counterparties to derivatives transactions.
The Derivatives and Structured Finance group within A&O’s ICM practice is widely admired as a leader in its area. Legal 500 and Chambers both rank A&O as the top tier practice and the group regularly wins awards itself and for the deals in which it is involved. The group is widely regarded as highly innovative and at the centre of major market events - many of our initiatives have featured in the FT Innovation Awards. They have also been at the forefront in advising on recent sovereign and major bank crises. The group, which has a truly global capability, has expanded over the past few years and has a positive outlook for future growth.
As a Peerpoint consultant, a flexible working pattern can be considered, including providing expertise on an ad-hoc consultancy basis when working for the A&O team.
