Our highly rated UK planning team consists of 5 partners and 12 other fee earners. Chambers and Legal 500 say the “CMS’ team gives thoroughly comprehensive, professional advice” and are “Very responsive and very helpful”.
The team is currently based in London and Edinburgh. We are offering a role in our Bristol office to work alongside our substantial Real Estate practice, with an opportunity to grow the team in Bristol. The candidate would also work as an extension to and very much part of the London team.
Ashley Damiral leads the highly regarded Planning team. They have been consistently successful working for a broad range of clients who continue to require high quality planning advice. These include a mix of developers, promoters, owners, occupiers, investors and authorities in the residential, retail, hotels, energy and other sectors.
Core areas of work include energy consenting, in conjunction with CMS’ market leading energy and renewables team, residential development for a number of the top UK housebuilders and surplus land – helping major corporate clients to obtain planning permission for redevelopment/regeneration of surplus land. The team also advises on the promotion of and objections to CPOs in the context of infrastructure projects and mixed-use redevelopments.
A moderate proportion of the team’s work is also providing support to other departments (e.g. on investment property work for the Real Estate Group and on corporate and banking deals).
Given the type of work you will undertake we anticipate that you will need to have between 4 and 6 years’ relevant PQE to meet the demands of the role. You will also have an excellent academic record. You will also have solid experience in Planning, CPO and other related areas of law.
Salary will be commensurate with relevant PQE.
