Paramount is currently seeking a Vice President, Business Affairs & Legal. This position is responsible for providing legal and commercial support to the Worldwide Television Licensing & Distribution division.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform business and legal affairs functions in connection with Paramount’s television and digital distribution of motion picture and television content worldwide (except the US and Canada), with a focus on pay TV, basic TV, free TV, SVOD and FVOD and also supporting VOD, EST and PPV.
- Handle all aspects of licensing matters, including advising on deal structure and strategy, drafting documents, negotiating all phases of transactions from term sheet to definitive agreement, and consulting on the management and administration of active agreements.
- Assist with matters related to licensing and distribution, including acquisitions, content protection, MPA initiatives, rights conflict analysis and collective management issues.
- Collaborate with, synthesize feedback from and provide advice to commercial, finance, operations and marketing executives.
- Provide ancillary business and legal affairs support to other groups or divisions, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- The completion of an LL.B. or EU equivalent and required certifications for practicing law in England or other EU jurisdiction. Admission to State Bar of California or New York a plus.
- 10 + years PQE.
- Solid experience at a top law firm or motion picture studio handling matters involving licensing and distribution of content.
- Extensive working knowledge in contract analysis and review, negotiations, documentation and compliance.
- Ability to build a professional partnership with international stakeholders.
- Strong analytical abilities, excellent writing/drafting skills and teamwork-oriented attitude.
- Ability to perform under the demands set by the company and to manage a high-volume workload efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to think “outside the box” on matters requiring creative alternatives and innovative solutions.
