About Eversheds
Our Corporate team is one of the most successful in Europe. We act on complex, strategic projects for our clients, including many M&A mandates for multinational corporates and private equity houses. Due to the strength and depth of the firm, we are able to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to the way that we do business that delivers efficiency and results. Our lawyers are also supported by experienced, sector-focused experts to provide an unrivalled and seamless international offering.
We are looking for talented M&A lawyers (including Private Equity, oil and gas and Equity Capital Markets) to join our Corporate Team in London to compliment our existing high quality City practice.
These roles will involve primarily transactional work in a range of areas covering M&A, private equity, equity capital markets and oil & gas. Candidates are likely to have a general skill set with proven experience in M&A, private equity, equity capital markets or oil and gas.
Key responsibilities:
You will be required to contribute proactively and enthusiastically to the above strategic objectives via structured business development activity with the internal and external market. You will also be expected to develop close working relationships with appropriate office contacts throughout the business both nationally and internationally.
These roles will cover the full remit of Corporate work including all aspects of client generation, client work and relationship management, business development and financial management. You will also supervise and develop junior lawyers in the team.
You will have the opportunity to leverage off Eversheds’ unique selling points, including specialist sector expertise, international capability and a highly developed project management approach. This will involve opportunities in national and international initiatives within Eversheds.
Skills and experience:
You will have:
· trained at a major City law firm and have strong academic background/qualifications.
· demonstrated a high level of technical skill and competence particularly in some or all of the relevant specialisms within Corporate law outlined above.
· the ability to take into consideration the commercial impact of your advice when applying technical expertise to decisions.
· consistently achieved your personal financial targets and standard hourly rates.
· demonstrated good networking skills and an ability to build strong client relationships.
· maintained a breadth of view despite specialisation.
· an ability to manage a heavy workload and the competing demands of clients which arise from running a number of separate transactions at once.
· taken part in several different types of business development activity and demonstrated an ability to drive for more clients and work.
· taken team responsibility and coached junior colleagues.
· built great relationships with colleagues you work with in other practice groups.
· a proven track record of complying with quality systems and risk management procedures.
· demonstrated the ability to influence the shape of new initiatives for your practice group and/or your firm as a whole.
· the ability to demonstrate your ability to work as an integral part of a team.
· a keen sense of drive and enthusiasm for your role.
Key competencies:
Typically, you will be between 2 and 8 years PQE to have gained the required breadth and depth of experience for these roles.
In addition to the above, Eversheds also require awareness and full participation in the Firm’s commitment to equality and diversity, the environment and health and safety.
We’re a modern, progressive law firm. We think differently and we’ve built a culture where individual skills and personalities can shine through.
Eversheds endeavours to recruit and fill vacancies directly. However, when we do need to engage with agencies, Eversheds operates within a preferred supplier list.
