Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to work as a Senior Legal Counsel - MENA for a leading global multinational based in Dubai.
Role Description
In this role you will be responsible for advising on all legal matters in the MENA region (except for Levant and Pakistan). One of your primary responsibilities will be to protect the legal interests of the company and its personnel by handling all legal matters arising in the region. In particular you will ensure the company complies with all legislative requirements such as anti-corruption/anti-bribery (including the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act), fair competition and antitrust legislations, local regulatory requirements, labour issues, privacy, etc., and also local business standards and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a law degree and have at between 7 to 9 years of experience as a lawyer in a major law firm or a lawyer in an internal corporate counsel role. He or she will be required to work collaboratively as part of a team, while appropriately assessing and advising on legal risks and offering creative solutions to complex legal problems. More specifically, he or she will possess the following skills:
* The ability to identify key issues and consistently apply a high standard of integrity, professionalism, legal knowledge, expertise and business ethics.
* The ability to provide commercially focused and value-added legal advice.
* Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
* Ability to design, implement and administer compliance programs and procedures.
* Very strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Fluency and in English.
* The ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment.
* The ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior management in the business.
* Practical approach with a "can do" attitude.
Candidates from all sectors will be considered however those with a background in highly regulated industries in an in-house capacity or in private practice will be at an advantage.
