An opportunity has arisen for a trade mark attorney to join The Branding Group based in Eversheds’ Manchester office. The Branding Group is an integral part of the of the wider IP Group which includes 6 UK-based partners and a wider team of over 20 lawyers and a further 75 IP lawyers across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small, locally based team within the wider IP practice to act on behalf of many well known UK and international brand owners to advise them on all aspects of their branding and designs requirements, including portfolio management, branding strategy and international brand protection. 

Eversheds’ Branding Group currently advises many well-known brands and the position also offers the successful candidate to assist in business development to work together with the IP Group to build business. Key responsibilities: Key responsibilities include: 

  • Undertakes and advises clearance searches; 
  • Advises on the registrability of brands and designs; 
  • Drafting trade mark specifications; 
  • Trade mark and design filings; 
  • The provision of strategic advice on international brand protection strategy; 
  • Recordals and renewals; 
  • Prosecution of trade mark applications, including dealing with oppositions, revocation and cancellation actions; 
  • Working with Eversheds’ overseas offices and international network of attorney forms in respect of foreign applications. 

Skills and experience: The successful candidate will be a qualified Trade Mark Attorney with some proven experience in working in a trade mark attorney or law firm. Key competencies: You will have good literacy skills, strong organisational capabilities and good computer skills. Attention to detail is essential, as is the requirement for good interpersonal and communication skills as client contact and liaison with the rest of the IP team will be a key feature of the role.
