The Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a corporate/commercial lawyer with good knowledge of IP issues to practise in the fast-paced field of technology transfer, including IP licensing, private equity transactions and consulting.
The position of Senior Solicitor will be responsible for:
- providing legal advice on a wide range of Isis transactions relating to Technology Transfer, including confidentiality agreements, new company formations, consulting transactions and other relevant commercial agreements;
- working with the Head of Technology Transfer and the team to achieve the desired outcomes through negotiations;
- advising Isis on all litigious and potentially litigious matters;
- advising the University’s Finance Director and the Director of Oxford Spin-Out Equity Management on the University’s participation in spin-out companies;
- contributing to University policy on aspects of research funding which affect the subsequent transfer of technology;
- working with the Deputy Director of Legal Services in order to ensure compliance with the University’s procedures.
The successful candidate will have:
- a strong academic background and extensive relevant post-qualification experience;
- experience of interacting with pharmaceutical companies, large companies in the physical sciences, and/or venture capital funds would be advantageous;
- a thorough knowledge of the law in the fields relevant to the role, in particular intellectual property, corporate finance and commercial law; and substantial experience of applying that knowledge creatively and rigorously.
