Our international financial markets litigation group focuses exclusively on contentious work for financial institutions. Members of the group work alongside our non-contentious and transactional financial markets lawyers and have constant exposure to the business of financial institutions. As a result, they are not only first class contentious lawyers but have a real understanding of the financial markets and the needs of financial institutions.
Our practice reflects the firm’s non-contentious financial markets practice. We therefore work mainly on high value, complex matters for investment banks, clearing banks, investment and fund managers, securities houses, commodities and futures brokers and dealers, general insurance and life assurance companies and other financial institutions operating in the international financial markets.
The team has extensive experience of disputes concerning structured finance, asset and wealth management, banking, brokerage and derivatives. The group also advises on investigations and enforcement proceedings working closely with our highly rated regulatory and white collar crime teams.
The Role:
We are seeking an associate to join the Bristol team within the financial markets litigation group. The candidate would join a team of three other associates, one managing associate and two partners. This would provide the opportunity to work on high-value and often high-profile disputes and investigations, often with an international element. We are looking for an associate with ideally between three and five years’ PQE. He/she will be expected to work with other partners and associates across other offices, in particular the London team, as part of a collegiate and supportive international group.
Person Specification:
- Excellent academics;
- Able to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team;
- Flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours on occasion as required;
- Applicants should have trained and qualified with a leading firm or at the Bar with three and five years’ post-qualification experience;
- Experience in and enthusiasm for complex, high value disputes and investigations, including contentious regulatory work, is essential for this role.
Simmons & Simmons has over 1,500 people working in 22 offices on some of the most high profile work across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
