That's how we've become one of the largest law firms in the world and a great place to work and develop your career.
Our company commercial group handles transactions for a broad range of financial institutions and large private and listed companies. We enable our lawyers to stretch their skills and gain experience few other law firms can offer, drawing on the opportunities and resources of an international firm with an award winning and innovative approach.
We are looking for a talented and ambitious professional to join the Banking team in Leeds. We have an exciting opportunity for either a Newly Qualified Solicitor or a Solicitor with up to 4 years post qualified experience.
The team is led by partners Jason Wurzal and Kathryn Walters who have a very high profile across Yorkshire and the North East. Our work spans, refinancing, property finance, acquisition finance, trade finance and ABL work. The successful candidate will provide support on a wide variety of national and international transactions.
You will work as part of a team on larger transactions and will be the main point of contact on other matters. With an extensive and varied workload you will have an opportunity to quickly develop your skills in drafting and negotiating a variety of banking documents and managing transactions.
The team acts for both banks (RBS, Barclays, Lloyds, Yorkshire, HSBC) and corporate borrowers (such as WYG plc, UK Land Estates, Bernard Matthews, Communisis plc, William Jackson Food Group and a variety of US corporates) which will give you a great experience of both sides of banking transactions. A significant amount of the team's work includes working with different jurisdictions so you will develop strong experience on cross-border matters.
You will also become actively involved in business development responsibilities including organising and attending marketing events and building up your own contacts at our banking clients.
Skills and experience:
Previous experience in a banking, restructuring or corporate team would be helpful.
· The successful candidate will be a strong team player, with a high level of commitment to client care. A good sense of humour will also help!
· A good communicator with an ability to interpret complex legal issues into plain English risk based advice for clients.
· Strong organisation and technical skills.
