Great opportunity to join this major commercial law firm as a Risk and Compliance Lawyer on a full-time basis.
In this role you will support the Head of Risk & Compliance in managing the firm's risk and compliance requirements so as to ensure that the firm complies with its professional and regulatory obligations and that relevant risks are appropriately mitigated. This varied role will include:
- Analysing and advising on potential conflict and confidentiality issues arising out of new client or new matter inception, escalating these where appropriate so as to ensure that fee earners in the firm comply with relevant legal and professional obligations;
- Assisting the Money Laundering Reporting Officer and the Head of Risk & Compliance in managing the firm's anti-money laundering compliance risks, dealing with both client due diligence and suspicion reporting so as to ensure that the firm complies with all relevant legislation;
- Taking day to day responsibility for the firm's new client and new matter inception processes and procedures to ensure that new work can be taken on efficiently while also addressing relevant risk and compliance issues; and
- Undertaking training on risk and compliance issues as requested by the Head of Risk & Compliance to ensure that all partners and employees are kept up to date with the firm's policies and procedures and understand their personal responsibilities and duties.
It is likely that the successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with at least 4 years of risk and compliance experience gained in a commercial law firm. Extensive experience of client and matter inception issues (AML and conflicts, engagement letters, liability caps, approval of client terms of business) is required, and data protection experience would be beneficial.
