The banking and finance team are seeking to recruit solicitors with 1 to 3 years' UK post-qualification experience.
We want to recruit lawyers that fulfil the following criteria:
Strong academic qualifications from A Levels, with a minimum 2:1 degree
At least one Banking and Finance seat completed during the lawyer's Training Contract
1 to 3 years' post-qualification experience from a Magic Circle or Silver Circle law firm, or a firm with recognised Banking and Finance credentials. Any solicitor moving from a regional or US firm will have to demonstrate that they have the motivation and talent to thrive in a demanding work environment
Good post-qualification experience in leveraged finance, including senior, mezzanine and preferably high yield transactions
Ambitious, with a genuine commitment to develop their professional and legal skills and the profile of the team
Articulate and confident to deliver at the highest standard within a team of highly competent solicitors at the top of their game
The Banking and Finance team comprises 8 partners, supplemented by partners in our Financial Services Regulation and Banking and Finance Litigation groups, supported by a very collegiate and close-knit team of 1 consultant, 24 associates, a dedicated PSL, 7 trainees and 5 paralegals. The group has successfully grown over the last five years, and now incorporates a broad range of finance related practice areas - including acquisition finance, restructuring and insolvency, hedge funds and derivatives, fund finance, real estate finance, structured finance and mezzanine finance. Our current need to recruit is driven by an increase in work across all areas of our practice.
Lawyers in our Banking and Finance team are not allocated to particular areas of work or particular partners, and would be exposed to all the areas of work covered by the group. We encourage some specialisation as associates become more senior but all our associates and partners cover a wide range of the team's areas of expertise. Client secondments are common and secondments to overseas law firms may be possible. We also encourage our assistants to participate in our client and business development activities.
