We run two week summer placement schemes across all of our UK offices. The scheme aims to give a thorough insight into life at the firm. There will be approximately 150 places available in 2013 and the closing date for applications is 31 January 2013.
DLA Piper offers around 90 training contracts a year and we welcome applications from students from all degree disciplines, who have demonstrated consistent academic excellence. In addition we seek enthusiastic and committed individuals, whose good communication and analytical skills enable them to deal with the intellectual challenges of the job. Our training contracts consist of four six-month seats in different areas of the firm. Trainees are given an opportunity to express what areas they would like to experience and also have the opportunity to do a seat abroad, or a client secondment. Training at DLA Piper starts from the moment you accept our offer as we want to ensure that you feel part of the firm when you start your training contract. Therefore all future trainees have access to the online portal, 'Inside DLA Piper', where they are kept up to date with news from wherever they are in the world.
If you want responsibility, you will be given as much as you can handle and your progress will be monitored via regular performance reviews and informal feedback. Trainees benefit from working closely with people at all levels of the business, as well as having client contact, and are given excellent training via our award winning learning and development programmes. Trainees are also encouraged to take part in business development and corporate responsibility initiatives to develop their professional skills and networks. All of this combined provides trainees with an excellent grounding on which to build their legal careers.
