Head of Legal

The Company:

Fast growing half billion dollar Consumer Finance Fintech business.

The role:

The Director of Legal - UK manages the legal affairs for our client, serving as a trusted advisor to the local management team; the Director of Legal has primary responsibility for all legal matters within the UK, including commercial, corporate, competition,  litigation & claims, regulatory, M&A, labour & employment, IP, and overall legal risk management; in coordination with the Associate General Counsel, the Director of Legal - UK sets local legal policies for the business and supports high-octane growth for the business, while appropriately managing risk.

 Some of the primary responsibilites: 

•  Advises on UK laws relevant to the operations, sales, and marketing of consumer credit, financial management and online and app-based financial platforms.
• In coordination with the Associate General Counsel, , and other members of the legal group, advises on all aspects of commercial relationships in the UK, including review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts and complex commercial transactions with regulated financial institutions, as well as software licenses and other technology agreements; advises the business on proper governance and corporate records management of the business under applicable law and FCA regulations.
• In coordination with the Director of Regulatory & Compliance UK, drive the compliance program in keeping with best practices and our clients compliance policies and programs, including FCA and GDPR/privacy matters

Location: London

Requirements:

• Common law qualified lawyer with experience within a legal department of an international company or relevant legal experience. Experience as legal advisor to a Retail Finance, Financial Technology or Technology business and familiarity with UK laws regarding retail finance and technology strongly preferred.
