An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Head of Legal to join a leading organisation. The role will support one of their major workstreams and will involve a broad range of commercial contracts and outsourcing. The role will involve:
- Reviewing proposed contracts to assess whether risks to the business are mitigated and key business objectives are catered for. In particular, work to ensure that the business is committed to achievable delivery schedules, profitable business and proportionate liability.
- Taking ownership of standard contractual positions for the Life and Pensions business along with the drafting and maintenance of appropriate template documents.
- Draft new contractual terms when these are required, including NDAs, letters of intent, letters of variation and related documents.
- Acting as a key focal point for internal and external parties to the contractual negotiations
- Pushing contract negotiations through so that the business’s requirements are met while achieving the agreement of the other party.
- Ensuring that key decisions on the part of the business are made by the correct person and that they are provided with adequate information to make an informed decision.
- Maintaining a library of standard contracts and agreements which can be used with little variation for smaller, lower risk purposes.
- Providing an advisory service to the business on agreed contract terms and general legal issues, their meaning and the negotiation of new contracts.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on very interesting contracts in a collegiate environment. The role would suit someone with a minimum of 5 years PQE in commercial contracts. In-house experience is desirable but not essential.
