Are you looking for an in-house role that is slightly different, with lots of flexibility? If so this role may appeal. The business is fast paced and in some ways almost ‘start up’ like in its outlook, which is very refreshing. As a result you would be allowed to work from home 5 days a week and as long as the job gets done well, how you manage your time will be up to you. This role could potentially suit someone looking for more flexible working arrangements after a period of maternity leave, or someone who enjoys a more grown up working environment and is able to manage their own time effectively. Candidates who have had a career break will also be considered.
You will work closely with the General Counsel, who is incredibly bright (ex Magic Circle), yet very down to earth and approachable. Ideally she is looking for a self-starter, who is happy to take on responsibility and run with matters, yet knows when to come back and ask for help. You will be a good all rounder, keen to have a go at a range of matters including; international commercial contracts; assisting with M&A matters and equity debt financing at group level; carrying out international corporate governance; and assisting with employment/ litigation matters that may arise.
Ideally you will also speak some French, as the business is branching out into many French speaking countries over the course of the next 2 years and so you will be expected to review contracts in French. Although the business does use local lawyers in each jurisdiction it enters into, they would like someone who can bridge that gap.
Prior in-house experience is not a pre-requisite, as the General Counsel came straight from private practice to in-house and so is quite open-minded about candidates who have had a solid training and background. The role will involve some travel, however this is completely manageable and you will be able to dictate it.
The business seems incredibly exciting and this is a great opportunity to undertake some excellent quality work, whilst also having a lot more flexibility.
