Key responsibilities:
You will ensure co-ordinated planning and implementation of all cross working activities for the Paris office, covering but not limited to the following:
· Provision of commercial insight and strategic advice to the business
· Operational plans, designed, consulted upon and implemented
· Budget planning, communication and implementation
· Client profitability
· Client service
· Compliance requirements
· Salary review process
· Promotions (Partners and Lawyers) ensuring correct budget envelope linkage and performance evaluation between Finance and HR, including a joined up timetable.
· Technology and innovation forums
· Business Development
· Performance Management
· Team accountability
In this role, it will be your responsibility:
· To ensure consistent communication across the Paris operational teams and facilitate feedback and action to the Regional Managing Partner, ensuring the correct risks or ideas get enough air time.
· To be the holder of the Paris risk register on behalf of the Regional Managing Partner, ensuring key risks are captured and that mitigation plans are in place.
· Be a sounding board for the Regional Managing Partner, looking at the strengths and weaknesses for the teams, partners and individuals across Paris. The Business Manager would need to understand the commercial operating environment of the office, firmwide strategy, tensions and the commercial impact of decisions and direction of Paris, to ensure a highly strategic discussion can be maintained with the Regional Managing Partner and the operational plans formulated.
· Become an alternative senior point of contact from the Regional Managing Partner for the partner group regarding operational issues. The Business Manager would need to be active at unlocking operational situations and be a champion for looking at ways to ensure “ease of doing business” by the Fee Earning community, be an innovation champion and focus on end client delivery.
· Ensure strong communication links with the Global Operations Directors, the Business Manager needs to understand Firmwide implications and operational priorities.
· Co-ordinate Regional Managing Partner updates to the Senior Management Team, Board and operational reviews in a consistent format and be the first line challenge of content to ensure relevance and quality input for the operation teams.
· Accountability for the Global Operations across Paris with the Global Operations Managers reporting into the Senior Business Manager.
· Ensure close relationships are built across the operational leads as the role requires action through influence, quality leadership and communication.
· Define and establish resources required on a medium to long term basis to ensure local partner requirements are met in an effective and timely manner.
· Lead, motivate, develop, mentor and appraise team members.
· Act as an agent for change, driving transformational change to improve the way Global Operations operates around end to end processes.
Skills and experience:
· Fluent English and French (both written and oral)
· Strong understanding of legal industry environment (commercial awareness)
· You will have extensive experience operating at senior levels, and will have impeccable communication and commercial skills – and confidence to challenge – with a strong commercial background
· Intelligent, energetic, resilient and passionate, you will be able to quickly hit the ground running and make a significant difference to the team and business which you support
· Strong preference for professional services background
· You will need to be customer focused, flexible, results driven and used to operating in a period of change and renowned for your accuracy and insight
· Willingness to roll sleeves up and undertake a range of activities at critical times of the month
· You will exhibit huge drive, passion, enthusiasm and commitment
