About Eversheds
With significant changes affecting the legal profession, Eversheds is showing the way ahead in developing innovative compliance and risk management practices and procedures, and the work we do is correspondingly challenging and diverse.
The Risk and Compliance Team, led by the Risk Director, works with lawyers and other colleagues around the business in order to develop and implement effective policies and procedures, respond to changing client expectations, and ensure compliance with new legislative and regulatory requirements. The team also manages the firm’s insurance, claims and in-house legal matters, and oversees other issues affecting the firm’s risk profile and reputation. Our team is successfully creating a robust framework for managing risk across all parts of our business, which continues to expand internationally.
This has created an exceptional career environment for lawyers and other professionals with a real desire and commitment to working within risk and compliance. You will do more than just identify risks and implement policy. We are looking for people who can think and work independently, engage effectively with colleagues at all levels, lead on significant cross-border projects, and further integrate risk management processes into the firm’s culture, adding real value to the firm.
As part of the Risk and Compliance Team, this high profile role will involve working with the Risk team on the development and roll-out of risk and compliance initiatives across all of Eversheds’ offices, as well as advising on a wide range of day-to-day risk and compliance related matters that arise in a firm like Eversheds.
Do you have the required interpersonal and team skills? The courage to challenge convention when necessary? The credibility to influence strategic decisions as part of an innovative and commercially-focused team? Then our environment will play to your strengths and give you the opportunity and resources to shape our performance in this critical area of our business.
Key responsibilities:
· Researching and advising on various risk and compliance issues including financial sanctions, corruption, money laundering and conflicts, and responding to ad hoc queries from the firm in relation to these areas.
· Assisting colleagues on projects to manage risk across Evershed’s network of offices (UK/International).
· Driving the ongoing development and roll-out of risk and compliance training to the network of Eversheds’ offices, both UK and Internationally.
· Supporting the review of/updates to the firm’s policies, including working with others within the Risk and Compliance team to facilitate the development of new policies and guidance notes where necessary.
· Actively participating in Global Operations Team and GO initiatives, working with colleagues across GO to ensure the needs of the business are met.
· Advising on compliance with the Solicitors Code of Conduct and responding to ad hoc queries from the firm in relation to it.
· Researching and advising on local law and local regulatory requirements, in respect of Evershed’s network of offices and assisting in the building of a due diligence structure to support the intended growth plan for Eversheds
· Working with the wider Risk and Compliance team and with the offices to ensure that best practice is in operation across the business.

· A passion for risk and compliance matters.

· Excellent time management skills, balancing longer term project work with sometimes urgent requests made by other members of the team, Global Operations and the wider firm
· You will be service-orientated with an ability to understand the varied issues facing the offices across the Eversheds network and provide possible solutions to challenges.
· Resilient under pressure and willing to work with the challenges brought by change.
· A commitment to the highest standards of professional behaviour, in personal approach, presentation and attitude.

We're a modern, progressive law firm. We think differently and we've built a culture where individual skills and personalities can shine through. At Eversheds, we believe that innovation comes from a culture of genuine equality and diversity and we are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, or once in post.
Eversheds endeavours to recruit and fill vacancies directly. However, when we do need to engage with agencies, Eversheds operates within a preferred supplier list.
