About Eversheds
We are looking for highly experienced and capable Pitch Managers who will focus on helping the firm win new profitable business through informal and formal pitch opportunities. These are firmwide roles, working across all of the firm’s practice groups and sectors.
We are particularly looking for individuals with creativity who want to join a progressive and innovative firm and who are passionate about wanting to be the best. We want to continue winning the best work for the best clients whilst at the same time pushing the boundaries for truly putting the client at the heart of everything we do.
The roles require high levels of commitment for which you will be rewarded by a highly competitive package and sheer job satisfaction from the quality of work that you will do. This is not a 9.00- 5.00 role as it will require you to work outside these hours as and when the situation warrants.
The Eversheds marketing team is highly respected across the legal sector. With a long track record in delivering innovative PR, communications and business development, you will be dealing with some of the world's top business names on behalf of some of the world's top lawyers. You'll get the opportunity to get involved in projects where you need to use all your talents and take responsibility. Every day is different but every day is satisfying.
Eversheds’ pitch team aims to be best-in-class in both its project management of pitches and win rate. Aligned to the firm’s client strategy, the team focuses on sector-led, often multi-jurisdictional, pitches and retenders to key accounts and development clients, working with client partners, sector group teams, technical specialists and key account managers to ensure success. We are looking for an ambitious pitch professional who is looking for an exciting new challenge in a stimulating, rewarding and secure environment where their considerable experience and insights are valued and acted upon.
Key responsibilities:
You will need to prove that you have the ability to not only project manage the creation of pitches, capability statements and presentation slides/handouts, but also take on a challenging/consultative role to:
· Guide and challenge legal teams through making the decision to tender (based on their Groups business objectives):
· Guide partners through a scoping process that will help us determine what the client really wants and identify how our services will match those needs (in the pitch document)
· Create quality pitch content and messages that focus on delivering client needs
· Challenge and coach on best practice throughout the pitch process
· Challenge and coach at presentation rehearsals
· Obtain debriefs from clients/targets on pitch wins/losses
· Become a specialist in one of the firm’s focus sector areas and provide pitch support in this area wherever possible. Be a point of information and advice to other pitch managers who are managing pitches in your focus sector.
The role would include taking the lead on:
· Deciding to tender
· Opportunity evaluation advice (organising research, if necessary, to inform decisions)
· Scoping advice
· Preparing the tender
· Pitch planning meetings (to agree content and responsibilities)
· Providing advice on best structure/approach for the pitch - using any new ideas/best practice gained from other successful pitches
· Project managing document creation/despatch
· Presentations
· Re-scoping telecons to gain information for presentations
· Planning meetings
· Presentation rehearsals/coaching
· Preparation for Q&As
· Debriefs
· Conducting debriefs on all pitches (won and lost)
· Using analysis gathered to effect change/improvements
Skills and experience:
Effective time and project management are critical coupled with the ability to quickly develop positive consultancy relationships. An ability to multi-task is also crucial.
You must have extensive knowledge of scoping, pitching, coaching for verbal presentations, debriefing clients and using analysis of performance to drive new initiatives. Also:
· At least 5+ years experience of business development, ideally working for a professional services organisation.
· Excellent communication skills - both written and oral.
· Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills - this job is about challenging and coaching partners and lawyers in BD best practice.
· A positive, proactive approach, creativity, tenacity and energy.
· High attention to detail and strong client focus.
· Experience of working in a target-driven environment
Key competencies:
You will need strong information assimilation skills, a high level of written and verbal communication and strong probing/consultative listening skills coupled with the ability to constructively challenge and persuade legal and client personnel.
