A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Solicitor or Barrister to join our multi-billion turnover client's recently established in-house employment law department. Based in London, as In-house Employment Solicitor / Barrister, you will be responsible for a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law advice, in support of the HR and management teams across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a respondent employment solicitor with Tribunal Advocacy and Union experience to make the move in-house into industry.
Our client is a multi-billion turnover organisation with tens of thousands of staff across the UK and beyond. The company operates in a highly competitive industry sector and its products and services are used by millions of people every day.
To support the successful delivery of the company's HR strategy and employment law solutions, our client is in the process of establishing an in-house Employment Law Department. Working across the UK, from our client's office in London, the In-house Employment Solicitor / Barrister will support the HR and business management teams on the full range of employment law matters. They will provide sound, pragmatic and commercially sensitive advice, and represent the company at Employment Tribunals as and when necessary.
Specific responsibilities are to include: Providing comprehensive and timely advice and assistance on all matters pertaining to employment law; representing the group companies in litigation concerning employment law in Employment Tribunals, EAT and County Court; reviewing and drafting contracts of employment and/or policies and procedures; assisting in the training, development and performance management of colleagues; drafting weekly/monthly newsletters on relevant employment law topics; ensuring compliance with internal, quality assurance and good practice protocols, including Health and Safety policies.
Candidates applying for this position must be a qualified respondent employment law solicitor or barrister with at least five years' PQE. You should have experience working for a top national or international law firm on behalf of industry clients, and you may even have some existing in-house exposure. You should possess a proven track record of delivering innovative employment law solutions and identifying best practice, with very limited supervision, and you will have existing senior-level experience of managing people. Employment Tribunal Advocacy experience is essential, and it is hoped you will also have prior-experience dealing with matters in a highly unionised environment. You must be able and willing to travel on a regular basis.
In return you will receive a competitive basic salary, a company car / car allowance, contributory pension and 25 days holiday. Cycle to work, child care vouchers and partner discounts are also available.
Please only apply for this opportunity if you have the requisite skills and experience.
